As the summer approaches we would like to remind you about the HEAP cooling assistance program. This program allows for the purchase and installation of an air condition unit (not to exceed $800) or a fan for eligible households. One air condition unit is allowed per household and will usually be a window unit with energy star rating. If it is deemed unsafe to install an air condition in the home then a fan will be provided as an alternative.

Applications are being accepted now and will continue to be accepted until August 29, 2014 unless funds deplete sooner. You may apply at your local department of social services.
